Open Call for a UAL Housing Exhibition in London

We are looking for artworks, research, designs and projects from UAL students and recent graduates for a public group exhibition happening in June 2024, which will focus on student living conditions in the private rental sector. This exhibition builds on the research carried out in Arts SU’s Private Renters Report, which highlighted the conditions students at UAL are living amongst, and generated discussion about how both the University and the Students’ Union can support students who are balancing the priorities of their studies, with a high-cost yet low-quality private rental market.

Register and become part of the largest illustration showcase in middle Europe! Present the best of your free creations in one of the three exhibition categories: free illustration, comics, and collectives. We welcome both professionals and hobbyist illustrators.

Eligibility: Anyone who has never exhibited at the LUSTR festival can apply. In addition to the traditional sections Comics and Free Illustration, and a new section for 2024 has been added – Authorial Collectives. This section allows the presentation of projects such as printing workshops, independent publishing houses, or illustrator groups.

What you get: LUSTR festival is a week-long feast for the eyes visited by 4000 people from the Czech Republic but also international guests invited by the festival.

With support from Arts Council England, Habib Hajallie offers a paid opportunity to exhibit and provide mentorship to 4 emerging artists from ethnically diverse backgrounds, with connections to Dartford and surrounding areas. He intends to use my experience of being a full-time artist to galvanise the careers of artists looking to develop their professional practice. The exhibition will open in September 2024 at The Mick Jagger Centre.

Eligibility: This exhibition & mentorship is only for artists from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Artists must also have some connection to Dartford or surrounding areas (i.e either living in or nearby or can show a connection in some other tangible way).

What you get: Each artist will be paid a fee of £2000 and have the opportunity to benefit from close mentorship as well as a group exhibition. There will be in person meetings on: presenting work in an exhibition, sustaining an art practice & finding opportunities and creating an online presence.

Home/Land: Open Call for artists based in Worthing/Sussex

The Socially Engaged Art Salon [SEAS CIC] invites artists to submit artworks that delve into the multifaceted themes of home, refugees, migration, displacement, and diasporic sensibilities. In an era marked by global movement and shifting identities, we seek creative expressions that reflect on the experiences of those uprooted from their homes, whether by choice or necessity.

Eligibility: The call is open and free to anybody [18+] who is a Worthing / Sussex resident. We encourage professional and amateur artists from working-class backgrounds, such as refugees, migrants, BPOC, LGBTQ+, artists with disabilities and artists from working-class backgrounds, to submit work.

What you get: Exhibition opportunity. The exhibition is part of Worthing Festival & Refugee Week [11 - 23 June 2024]. If the SEAS funding application is successful, up to five refugee artists will receive £50 in honorarium for their contribution.

For the next edition of the Watou art festival, we aim for a Watou shaped by collectives and collabs, celebrating collaborative creation’s diversity and strength. The theme of this year’s open call, “The Smell of Grass is Changing”, represents the adaptation, transformation, and renewal we seek in art, inviting reflection on our changing world and its impact on our creative process and interactions. Internationally acclaimed artist Koen Vanmechelen invites artists for an in situ encampment as an immersive experiment.

Eligibility: We invite collectives or collabs (a minimum of 3 people) to participate in the next edition of Watou Arts Festival. Selected collectives or collabs will work in situ at one of the festival locations and transform that location with site-specific (indoor and/or outdoor) artistic contributions. Thus, collectives or collabs must be willing to visit the festival during the summer of 2024 (6 July – 1 September) to meet with the organisation and to develop their project afterward. Mixed teams with participants from fields other than visual arts are encouraged to apply. The Art Festival Watou is known as a festival where visual arts and poetry merge. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

What you get: As a collective/collab you can submit projects for the next edition of the Arts Festival in two categories. Category 1: a proposal up to € 10,000. Category 2: a proposal up to € 25,000. The lump sums stated above must include fees, production, and performance costs as well as traveling expenses. These amounts are gross amounts.

Women In Art - Emerging Artist Prize 2024

Introduction/Executive Summary: Celebrating its 7th year, the Women In Art Prize expands to include all emerging female artists in the UK, offering a platform for Painters, Photographers, Illustrators, and Printmakers. Aimed at assisting and elevating women artists' careers, this prize features a broad range of awards and year-long opportunities for finalists.

Eligibility: Open to emerging female artists over 18, living and working in the UK across various media. Overseas artists can apply for the Overseas Prize. Entries must be recent works, not exceeding size limits, and ready for sale.

What You Get: Winners receive cash prizes, exhibition opportunities, a booth at an art fair, publication features, and more, across multiple categories including painting, photography, illustration, and print. Specific awards cater to artists of African and Caribbean heritage, as well as emerging talents. Finalists gain exposure and support throughout the year.

Fee: Standard entry fee is £25; students pay £15. Entrants can submit up to two works.

WeHo Arts Division invites artists, curators, and non-profit arts organisations based in the U.S. to submit proposals for temporary public art projects to the Art on the Outside (AOTO) program. AOTO funds the temporary display of art at publicly accessible City-owned locations and facilities. Past projects include sculptures, murals, digital screen-based artwork & projections, and performance art.

Eligibility: Artists, curators, and non-profit arts organisations based in the US

What you get: Exhibition opportunities, and project funding. The average project budget supported by the Art on the Outside program is $8,000, however, project budgets significantly higher than this figure are still eligible for consideration.
